Generational Trauma - Short Poem

Generational trauma ends with me.

Generational trauma is something you simply can't see.

But what is generational trauma I hear you ask,

It's never been able to complete a task,

It's never being able to love or be loved,

It's impulse behaviours and being misunderstood,

It shows up in guilt and feelings of shame,

Generations before you have felt the same pain.

When a person knows abuse and passes it down,

All that follow them carry it around.

Generational trauma is something we should all be able to see.

Because generational trauma ends with me.
